Yves is mild-mannered and pleasant to strangers and clients. However, his mastery of negotiation and business gives way to a hidden manipulator with aims to turn Ul'dah into a republic.
Yves cannot stand people who take advantage of children or the downtrodden.
As a former gladiator, Yves can pick out agressive postures and hairy situations. Even when relaxed he seems perpetually on guard.

Born to unknown Duskwright parents, Yves spent his early years scraping by in Ul'dah alleyways and streets. He caught the eye of a gladiatorial recruiter while performing as a dancer and winning back alley fights in his early teens. He'd soon become a fighter of some renown in Ul'dah's Coliseum. Proving to be very competent with the spear and lance, Yves would defeat numerous gladiators and amass great wealth in the process. However, he could not make enough to save the life of his mentor, who fell ill when Yves was 19. It forever changed him.
Now 30, Yves has used his wealth to educate himself, create a massive shipping/logistics company and also become one of the top viniters in Eorzea. His mild manners and sanguine smile hide the intentions a man fully capable of achieving his own ends at any cost. His humble origins blessed him with an inherent understanding of Ul'dah's underclass. And his newfound wealth provides access and influence he never could have dreamed of.
Yves dreams of a true Ul'dahn Republic where the fates of the people rest in their own hands and not the whims of monarchs & oligarchs. But he maintains that even a noble cause can be used for ones personal gain as well. And he will work feverishly to gain even more...by whatever means.
